Programme for Events

Our programme covers the time before, during and after the event. It is based on the so-called theory of change, both for setting the intentions and for the actual work with the project. That is to say, the method starts with a need or a challenge and illustrates the logical connections between the need, the desired change and the resources and activities that are deployed to bring about the desired change.

Step 1: Analysis

We start by identifying together how your event can contribute to filling a gap or need in society and what long-term effects we want to achieve. For the project to be as successful as possible, it is important that the organizer’s visions and goals match the needs of the host destination.

Step 2: Goal setting

Here it is time to identify which effects in the short to medium term will contribute to the desired long-term effects. These effects may differ between different stakeholders. Based on this, the project’s objectives and which indicators are to be used to measure and evaluate are determined

Step 3: Co-creation

In order for the event to be successful, a temporary working group needs to be put together, with special responsibility for planning the project.

Step 4: Implementation

Time to implement the activities that will lead to both short-term and long-term effects.

Step 5: Evaluation and dissemination

There will be many more factors than just the project, which affect the long-term social effects. Therefore, it is important to also measure and communicate effects in the short and medium term. They contribute to the long-term effects. Long-term social effects are both more difficult to achieve and to measure. Do not expect that it will be possible to achieve a concrete end result. Instead, build up an assessment basis and start from hypotheses.

Together we create long-term positive change

Göteborg & Co works strategically with organizers who want to use their event to create a long-term positive impact on the host destination. The method is offered to organizers in areas that match Gothenburg’s visions and development areas. Together we make decisions about what effects the event wants to create, what goals are to be reached, activities to contribute to these goals, and measurement methods. The method is made possible by our well-established network of ambassadors representing academia, industry and the public sector, as well as a strong belief in the power of collaboration.

Gothenburg Way to Legacy

We collaborate with associations as well as local and national stakeholders to ensure that events have a positive impact on both the association and the host destination. Our working model “Gothenburg Way to Legacy” includes a Programme, a Toolbox and Community Support.
